Annual Meeting

2020 Virtual Annual Business Meeting

Although unprecedented, the decision by our board of directors to suspend member attendance at our annual meeting is consistent with Prince George Electric Cooperative always putting safety first.

With recent events resulting from COVID-19, all of us have had to make changes and accommodations to our daily lives. This is true at PGEC where we have adjusted our operations to ensure that we provide continuous and uninterrupted electric and broadband services as well as adjust procedures for the public gatherings we hold. We have carefully and thoughtfully developed safety protocols for this year’s annual meeting in order to comply with federal and state guidelines for social distancing and to ensure the health and safety of those involved.

The PGEC 2020 annual meeting will be held at the headquarters in Waverly, but public attendance will be suspended. Instead, the meeting will be live-streamed via PGEC’s Facebook on Monday, September 28, 2020, at 5 p.m.

As available every year, members may return a signed proxy, found on the back cover of September’s Cooperative Living magazine. Members returning a signed proxy prior to the meeting will be eligible to participate in a prize drawing for a chance to win 1 of 10 $250 bill credits on his/her electric bill.

A meeting was held on June 17, 2020, to select nominees to serve on the board of directors for a period of two or three years. Listed below are the names of the nominees from their respective districts.

Three Year Terms

District 3 – Guilford – Richard B. Scott

District 8 – Dinwiddie – Matthew P. Carden

District 9 – Rives – Herbert R. Patrick

Two Year Terms

District 6 – Stony Creek-Sussex Courthouse – Keith M. Dunn (remainder of the term of Randolph Williams which expires in 2022)

To be valid, each PROXY CARD must be signed and returned to the cooperative no later than 12 p.m. (noon) the day of the meeting, Monday, September 28, 2020.

We appreciate our members’ understanding in these unprecedented times of these changes necessary for this year’s annual meeting.
