Co-op hosts safety demo for local first responders
Power line safety is one of the most serious issues a utility lineman faces daily. However, they are not the only ones who may encounter live power wires. Last week, Prince George Electric Cooperative had the pleasure of hosting its first responder live demo and hazard recognition training for more than 20 local responders of Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department, Waverly Rescue Squad, Sussex County Fire & Rescue, Prince George Co. 1, Prince George Co. 4, and Waverly Volunteer Fire Department.

Local seniors receive $3,000 in co-op scholarships
Three local high school seniors are the proud recipients of $1,000 scholarships courtesy of the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives Education Scholarship for High School Seniors. Each year, the Education Scholarship Foundation awards $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors whose parents or legal guardian are members of one of the 15 electric cooperatives served by VMDAEC.

Round Up For Education: Teachers Urged to Apply for Back-to-School Funds
Thanks to the generous donations of Prince George Electric Cooperative’s members, local teachers can offset the expense of buying supplies and educational materials for their students. This is possible because of their participation in the co-op’s Round Up for Education program.

Prince George Electric Co-op plans to conduct its Annual Members Meeting in person this year. Members are invited to attend the Sept. 26 meeting at the Waverly Headquarters. The meeting will start at 6 p.m.
