This season’s games just got a little brighter and more efficient thanks to Prince George Electric Cooperative’s employees. In partnership with Mr. George Collins, Co-Chairman of the Wayne Harrell Memorial Field, several of the co-op’s line workers installed LED lights at the ball field in Waverly.
According to Collins, the conversion of the outdoor lights at the ball field was set in motion last year. “We were using an excessive amount of electricity and knew that the outdoor lights were a contributing factor.” He explained that the field was established in 1985 – making the outdoor lights nearly four decades old.
Through a generous donation from the Town of Waverly, the LED lights were purchased. Although the cooperative doesn’t provide electric service to the field, Collins says that when he called PGEC, they came. Specifically, Holden Dunn, Jason Jessup, Dennis Hatch, Bobby Cain, and Chris Pruitt were on site to complete the installation.
President and CEO, Sarat Yellepeddi says that partnerships like this are another testament to the co-op’s guiding principles. “As a trusted community partner, we love answering the call to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve,” he says.
“I am truly appreciative for PGEC and their willingness to come help us make this improvement to our field,” Collins expresses. “Thanks to their helping hands, we’ll be able to save money and enjoy many more games under the bright lights this season.”
