Local algebra teacher receives co-op’s Round Up for Education funds

May 6, 2024

Co-op urges local educators to apply.

Henry Adams once said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” Teachers play a major role in sparking the interests of our future leaders. Their passion and dedication often inspire students to discover new things and pursue their dreams. On Teacher Appreciation Day, Prince George Electric Cooperative encourages us to reflect on the positive impact teachers have had on our lives that extends far beyond the classroom and participate in its Round Up for Education Program.

With Round Up for Education, PGEC and our participating members are proud to partner with local teachers, like Suzanne Degrauwe, to help with purchasing extra school supplies needed in the classroom.

Recently, PGEC members donated $113 to the ninth grade Algebra teacher at N.B. Clements Jr. High School in Prince George. The funds will go toward the purchase of binders for almost 70 students. “It’s a big help to my students in helping them remain organized with their assignments,” Degrauwe expresses. “The Round Up for Education Program is a huge help to local teachers.”

We all know that teachers go above and beyond to make learning fun and engaging. That’s why PGEC offers members the option to round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar and donate to a local school of their choice. If you’d like to participate, contact our office at 804-834-2424 or visit pgec.coop/round-up.

PGEC looks forward to member participation in this program so that teachers like Suzanne Degrauwe can empower our next generation of learners.
